The RNC (Romney Nominating Committee) has already spoken. Romney told us Haslam already did/will by the end of the month endorse Romney when Haslam wasn't allowed to say just a couple hours before:
http://blogs.knoxnews.com/humphrey/2012/01/haslam…
Romney and Obama will be the Big Two's candidates – the eternal false dilemma presented to the American people – two evils to choose from. They are already bought and paid for by the banksters as were Obama/McCain in 2008 and Bush/Kerry in 2004:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/guess-politician-an…
Current bankster odds for Romney are about 6:1…and the house always wins. Newt supporters are like red-shirts on a Star Trek landing party – expendable. They will serve a purpose for a short while and then be asked to obey Reagan's commandments, hold their nose and support Romney because any vote for anyone else is a vote for Obama…etc.

Well, Eric –
I can't say as how I agree with that assessment. There are an awful lot of very fine folks working very hard to deliver Tennessee for Newt. It may be an uphill climb (though not necessarily) but anything worth doing requires effort. And if fighting the powers that be is futile, I suppose all of us should just quit and go home.
Not thinking that's a course of action I am willing to take.

Ok, Eric's speech has motivated me. If standing up for what I believe is right is futile, then let the futility begin! I'm really not sure where that Star Trek reference comes from but I'm putting on my red shirt and answering the call; count me in, tell me what I need to do?
PS The "banksters" would be proven wrong if all the Ron Paul supporters threw their support behind Speaker Gingrich.

Derrick,
It's an old, original version of Star Trek reference. Any time a red shirt went on a landing party (except a couple of bridge regulars) they never came back, thus "expendable".
For you to win, first you have to get the RNC to give back half the delegates they stole from several states. Newt has to stay in to the end to have any chance. He has to be in there beyond the states the RNC stole the delegates from to even catch up.
Then you have to overcome the funding of the banksters who have bought the last several election nominees of both Big Two parties. Since they can print more for free/push a button, that ain't gonna happen. Plus with conservative stalwarts like Bohner, Wamp, Corker and Alexander backing them up at every turn…really your own side is against you.
Then the ace in the hole…Reagan's 11th commandment. If Newt isn't your party's nominee, will you really do what you believe is right, or hold your nose and vote against Obama..uh I mean for Romney?
"And if fighting the powers that be is futile, I suppose all of us should just quit and go home."
Don't have to quit Ken. But you have to be willing to accept when a game is rigged that it can't be won. Not honorably. I don't disagree with your statement about fine folks backing Newt. Was he their first choice or are they now working to defend themselves against the RNC (Romney Nominating Committee) since Romney vs. Obama is not much of a choice?

Editor's note: For just the second time in almost 6 years, I have deleted a comment. A Ron Paul supporter did a drive by comment with a link to how horrible he believed Gingrich to be and asked if the information there might change my mind about my support for Newt.
In a word, "No!"
But it does strengthen my opinion that the vast majority of Ron Paul supporters are so terrified their candidate is going to get his butt handed to him that they spend all their time scouring the internet for ANY excuse to post stuff in favor of Ron Paul.
Please note that nowhere, absolutely NOwhere in the above post is Ron Paul mentioned. Yet here he came with his Ron Paul is god's gift and everyone else is terrible.
I don't stalk his site with anti-Paul stuff. We all know about the racism and the inane foreign policy and don't need to be reminded of his good ideas. We are aware of them and have made up our minds.
Most of us are even committed to voting for Dr Paul should he be the nominee. I have yet to find a single Paul supporter that will vote for Newt if he wins.
Their type won't shut up and leave the rest of us alone. It's been their pattern for years and I've just about had enough. If I bash Doctor Paul or come to your site and spam, have at me. But stop posting off topic, thread-jacking bilge about your guy.
You're just strengthening the opinions of so many that along with being Paul's greatest asset you are also his greatest liability! Don't believe me? This is what I wrote in October of 2007 as a pretty new blogger who had just heard about Ron Paul!!!!
Nothing that has happened in the last four and a half years has changed my mind!

I am proud to be a Tennessee transplant from Pennsylvania, The home of Newt Gingrich. Another transplant from the Keystone State

I did not think my post (which was deleted) was mean-spirited or rude. I simply asked a question. The link I provided was to a page which pointed out Mr. Gingrich's voting record and how it was anything but limited-government.
I should have prefaced my post with the fact that I am not necessarily a Ron Paul supporter. I realize the link pointed out Ron Paul's positions on the same issues, but forgive me for not copying and pasting the whole page and removing them.
I just think if you're going to support a candidate, you should also be aware of his or her actions as an elected official. When faced with a candidate's voting record that is the opposite of the candidate's campaign speeches, what should his or her supporters do?
I have lived long enough to see very good people, of which I'm sure you are one, be fooled into supporting people of poor character.
No one can be perfect, but ideas can be. Judging a man because of his or her supporters is, in my opinion, not a good metric (after all, many bad things have been done in the name of Jesus Christ).
A man's character is not exposed by those who follow him but by what he does when given power.

Ken,
It would be good to see exactly what was said about Gingrich and Paul, because the comments available to the public only show one candidate being bashed, (Paul) by you. Then you complain about Paul supporters, but there's no evidence that a Paul supporter said or did anything rude.
#10 by Blue Collar Muse on 01/22/2012 - 08:55
Which is why I, out of integrity, chose to tell everyone that it existed. I could have simply deleted the remark and any later references to it. That would have been neither fair nor true.
Your comment as a follow up, for the record is also neither fair nor true.
I did not bash Dr Paul. In fact, I stated that many of us – and I include myself in that number – would vote for Dr Paul should he be the GOP nominee.
What I did bash were Ron Paul supporters who behave badly. Those folks are in evidence all around the nation, online and off and need no explanation or introduction. I have simply lost whatever shred of patience with them that remained.
Anything I missed?
#11 by Bashing? on 01/24/2012 - 18:52
Ken,
Apparently you missed your own comments about Ron Paul.
"We all know about the racism and the inane foreign policy and don't need to be reminded of his good ideas. We are aware of them and have made up our minds."
It's all too convenient for you to say that a Ron Paul supporter trolled your blog, and that Ron Paul supporters behave badly, but we the readers are left to guess. Unfortunately it gives the impression that the poster, is a Ron Paul supporter, "who behave(d) badly", yet this poster followed up and said he wasn't necessarily a Ron Paul supporter. If you don't like Ron Paul supporters that's your prerogative, but 'Question' doesn't appear to be rude. I am left with the impression that you don't want comments against Newt Gingrich here, rather than having a Ron Paul supporter "who behave(d) badly."

Tell you what, Bashing –
If my word isn't good enough for you, try this.
Get your own blog. Start writing. Start interacting with Right of Center activists of all stripes from Moderate to farther Right than yourself. Found a group or two. Spend hours and dollars you don't have putting together meetings and introducing activists to newsmakers and each other. Make a LOT of mistakes and make a LOT of friends. Do this for 5 years.
Then, come and tell me how convenient you think it is for me.
In the meantime, your powers of observation leave a great deal to be desired. You note that I both deleted AND retained a comment from "Questioner." You yourself noted that it was the latter of the two that remains.
That means one of his comments was not deleted. The one that shows him disagreeing with me and doing so politely. I even did all of this without you and your volunteering to be my own personal Jiminy Cricket and conscience. I could have deleted the second and saved me the trouble of your second comment and your insinuations and snark. But I didn't.
So – it seems I don't behave as you would suggest is so convenient for me. The second comment was acceptable, the first was not. I allowed him his say and you yours – both of which question my fairness and judgement.
Can't be more fair than that. And if that isn't good enough for you, you're free to go read and comment at other blogs where you aren't so likely to be offended or be forced to try and figure out who is good and who is bad.
Your choice. You're welcome here or you're free to go. Lovely thing Liberty and the internet. I'm not forcing you to do anything.
With that, we'll call this particular portion of the comment thread closed.
